A business lunch or a romantic dinner. A relaxed weekend brunch or the engaging experience of a wine tasting menu. Mosto's menus are designed to satisfy our guests' most diverse dining demands.
Daniel Urdaneta | Co-owner & Chef
Hailing from Venezuela, Daniel moved to Beijing in 2005 after cooking his way through restaurants in Latin America, Spain and the US. Like his business partner Alex, Mosto is his first restaurant.
“It’s not about fancy or expensive food"—says Daniel—"It’s about combining different flavors well.” Daniel's aim is to create simple dishes with his signature twist. Fresh and quality ingredients are obviously important, but what gives Mosto an edge and keeps customers coming back is the surprising and refined balance behind each of Daniel’s dishes.
"I love cooking as much as I love researching and studying new dishes and different cuisines. This is what really makes my job interesting". Dividing his culinary prowess between Mosto and Modo (his second restaurant), Dani can be seen in the kitchen every day, occasionally leaving the stove to greet his guests with a 'Hola!' and his big, affable smile.—
Alex Molina | Co-owner and Restaurant Manager
Alex, a wine enthusiast, is one of the founders of Mosto. Before moving to Beijing in 2006 Alex worked extensively in the Food & Beverage industry in his native Colombia, the US and China.
Mosto was Alex's first entrepreneurial effort in the restaurant business: “With Mosto, I wanted to create a space where people can enjoy refined food and great wines in a casual and relaxed atmosphere.”
Alex can be seen in action at both Mosto and Modo (his second restaurant), entertaining guests and recommending his latest wine discoveries. Later at night, he can be seen unwinding at the bar counter sipping a glass of his favourite wine.
Restaurants should never intimidate. They’re for savoring, enjoying, and unwinding. Mosto was created along these simple guidelines, which are reflected in our understated and warm interiors, in the unassuming attitude of our staff and in the dishes we have been serving to our guests since the late summer of 2008.
Our food has been called South American, Mediterranean and European. In all honesty, we find it hard to put a label to our cuisine. The flavors we blend draw inspiration from a variety of culinary influences, which are ultimately re-interpreted through the sharp minds and skillful hands of the chefs working behind our glass-encased, bustling open kitchen.
